Posted

BusinSnow2The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from late Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

Forecasters are calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain Sunday night into Tuesday morning, with accumulations of around 5 inches of snow and sleet and a potential for around a quarter inch of ice from freezing rain.

"Snow will begin late Sunday nigh and continue through Monday before changing to sleet and freezing rain Monday night," the weather service said. "Precipitation will end Tuesday afternoon."

A Wind Chill Advisory also remains in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday, with the coldest wind chills of 10 to 20 degrees below zero Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The potential precipitation and extreme cold will make for hazardous conditions for residents.

"The dangerously low wind chills will lead to frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken," they said. "Snow and ice will cause slippery roads and travel will be difficult."

Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s to lower 30s Monday into Tuesday.
