Posted
snowshovelUpdated: Jan. 25, 1 p.m. The Virginia Department of Transportation will mobilize crews by midnight tonight and treat roads as accumulation develops. "Anti-icing will not take place on most Virginia roadways due to rain occurring prior to snowfall," a VDOT official said. VDOT is warning motorists to plan for winter weather road conditions and use caution Monday morning. "If travel is necessary, allow extra time to reach destinations, lower speed and keep a safe distance from other vehicles," they said. "As drivers encounter slow-moving equipment such as snowplows, slow down and allow operators the right of way."
Residents can report road hazards or ask questions about road issues by calling VDOT’s 24-hour Customer Service Center at 800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623).
