Original Story:

The big story is still the weather, as the National Weather Service of Baltimore/Washington discusses the potential for snow Sunday night into Monday and record low temperatures on Tuesday.

The coldest outbreak since January 1994 is expected Monday night through Tuesday night," NWS forecasters said. "Subzero minimum temperatures west of I-95 likely Monday night with winds of 20 to 25 mph producing wind chills of -5 degrees or less across the area."

NWS suggests that wind chill watches for this event will probably be issued by Sunday.

Rain Sunday will taper of to light drizzle Sunday night over most of the area. Following another cold front that will enter the area from the west late in the night, precipitation will change from rain to snow showers.

"Current suggests the transition zone to snow will be east of the Blue Ridge late with snow tapering off through the morning hours for I-95 and east," they said. "This is a powerful front, which is forecast to strengthen; therefore, we will have to watch for continued snow showers/squalls into Monday morning."

The cold will continue with highs in the teens through Tuesday night as high pressure settles just south of the area.
