WEATHER BEAT: A Taste of Summer Arrives Thursday

Posted

If you like it hot, you’re in luck, it looks like we’ve officially made the transition to warm weather.

Monday night into Tuesday was quite stormy despite cool temperatures. We picked up about a quarter of an inch of rain. For your Wednesday, I am expecting temperatures to remain cool with highs near 70 degrees with the chance for a few showers, but by Thursday and Friday, the heat builds and temperatures soar to the mid to even upper 80s. Some areas to our south will likely hit 90 degrees. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we over perform and hit 90 degrees locally as well.

This weekend features the chance for some thunderstorms, but they will be in the isolated variety and there should be no need to cancel any outdoor plans. Highs this weekend will remain in the low 80s. In fact, even into next week, highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees will prevail. It should be noted that with the warmer temperatures also comes some instability, so the chance for showers will persist into next week.

Get out and enjoy a taste of summer and stay cool.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.”
