Weather Beat: April Outlook Features Milder Temperatures

Posted

You may have been surprised Monday morning when you looked out the window and saw anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow on the ground depending on where you were.  After a dismal start to winter for snow lovers, this March has gained some respect.

Looking ahead to April, a month that averages a trace of snow every year, models are indicating a trend for much milder temperatures, and hopefully, no snow.  Average temperatures in April range from 61 degrees to 72 degrees by the end of the month. Current models are showing a cool start to the month with temperatures in the 50s, but then a warming trend, with temperatures warming into the 60s, and then into the 70s by mid-April.  The beginning of April will not only be chilly, but a little unsettled.

Now, before we get into April, we must first get through the last few days of March.  After Monday’s spring snow, we do not see any real chances for precipitation for the rest of the week.  Our next chance for precipitation will be April 1, but with a high of 60 degrees, we should not have to worry about any snow.  Temperatures this week will primarily be in the low- to mid-50s.

There is light at the end of this wintry weather, and I am positive we will see our first 80 degree day before April closes out.

I hope everybody has a wonderful Easter holiday.  Your Easter will be very nice with sunshine and highs in the low 60s.
