WEATHER BEAT: Labor Day, Back to School Look Warm with Possible Isolated Storms

Posted

After a nice and cool summer, it now looks like we will have a couple hot days just in time for Labor Day. Still nothing we can’t handle. I like to say September and March are similar in that March is like spring, but we still get that last snow. In September, we want to say its fall, but Mother Nature reminds us its still technically summer.

For your Labor Day weekend, things are looking quite warm with highs in the upper 80s for Friday, then near 90 for Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and even Tuesday with daily chances for storms. These storms will not be a washout, but it will be something to be mindful of especially when you are preparing your Labor Day cookout.

Schools may be opening on Tuesday, but the weather will insist on summer. Tuesday will feature highs in the low 90s with a chance for an isolated thunderstorm. After Tuesday, things begin to cool back down to what you would expect in early September, which is low to mid-80s.

I would like to close by wishing everybody a safe and enjoyable Labor Day holiday as well as a successful school year ahead. Good luck to all the students and a big thank you to all the teachers that work so hard to make each school year a success. Stay tuned for the Autumn Outlook after Labor Day.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.”
