WEATHER BEAT: Significant Snow Likely Thursday

Posted

weatherbeatlogoIt’s the winter that keeps on giving. After 13 inches of snow last month, we could be looking at close to that amount again this month.

For your Wednesday, I am expecting a good amount of rain showers. Rain could amount to as much as an inch. Rain could be moderate at times. We will see highs in the mid-40s during the day, but temperatures begin to plummet by the evening as a cold front moves into the region. This cold front will allow all the rain to change to snow.

By Thursday morning, all that rain turns to snow, and some of that snow could be heavy at times. The latest models are starting the transition to snow early Thursday morning before the morning commute. Locally, I am expecting anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow, with higher totals to the north and lesser totals to the south. Regardless of where you are in the region, a minimum of 3 inches of snow looks to be a good bet.

By Friday, everything clears out and gives way to a good amount of sunshine, but the cold air lingers. We will see highs in the low 30s on Friday.

Once again, stay safe during this next round of winter weather.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.
