WEATHER BEAT: Slight Chance for Winter Weather Friday

Posted

weatherbeatlogoAfter a few nice days, all of the snow has finally melted and people are finally getting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. The question that remains is are we done yet?

As we approach the first official day of spring, we might be going a little bit backwards. We will see one more mild day in the 70s Tuesday, but things quickly change Tuesday evening as temperatures begin to dive into the 30s by Wednesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday look to be mostly dry, but highs will only be in the upper 40s as compared to the 70s we saw on Monday and what I’m expecting to see Tuesday.

Once we get to Friday, that’s when things begin to get a little interesting. Some models want to give us snow and sleet before the rain moves in while other models keep temperatures warm enough that we will just see rain. Yet other models want to give us a few inches of snow before the rain arrives. Which model do I agree with?

My thinking for Friday is that we may see a little wintry mix early Friday, but it won’t amount to much, and everything will quickly turn to plain rain.

March is a month that can go both ways, either very warm and mild or very cold and snowy. It looks like we’ve got a little bit of everything this week.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.
