WEATHER BEAT: Warm Memorial Day Weekend Leads to Heat Wave Next Week

Posted

weatherbeatlogoDespite this being the unofficial start to summer, many areas woke to temperatures in the low to mid-40s, but are these cool conditions here to stay?

While many areas were cool Saturday morning, this will not last long. In fact, temperatures Saturday will be in the mid-80s with upper 80s expected for Sunday. Memorial Day will likely feature temperatures near 90 degrees, and those 90s are likely to stick around for most of next week. In fact, this will likely be our first official heat wave of the season.

If you’re heading to the beaches this Memorial Day weekend, you can expect temperatures in the 80s with water temperatures in the 60s. With the upcoming heat wave, water temperatures are expected to rise, so now is a good time to head to the beach.

I hope everybody has an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. As for me, I will be heading out of the country on Tuesday to France and the UK where I will see temperatures primarily in the 60s and 70s. Despite being out of the country, I will still be posting daily forecasts to my Facebook page, so stay tuned for updates.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.
