WEATHER BEAT: Warming Trend Leads To Showers Thursday

Posted

Welcome to Standard Time everybody! I hope your ready for four months of long, dark, cold nights.

After a rather chilly Monday with partly cloudy skies and highs only in the 40s, the next few days look quite dreary, although, a warming trend should make some of you happy.

Tuesday looks to be cloudy, but slightly warmer with highs in the mid-50s. Wednesday features similar conditions, but with even warmer highs in the mid-60s, which is really nice for early November.

Thursday, things start to go downhill with a few rain showers and highs in the low 60s. We are not expecting a washout, but unsettled conditions should be expected. Behind the rain on Thursday comes much cooler air as a cold front drops us back into the mid-50s on Friday. Much of next week looks dry, but temperatures will remain in the 50s.

As of now, the upcoming weekend looks dry with partly cloudy skies each day and highs near 60 degrees.

We are continuing to monitor a system that could impact us around November 15. That now looks like it will be a primarily rain event. The system we are tracking for Thanksgiving Day looks like it could produce a few snow showers in the evening. At this time, there is only a 20 percent chance for snow, but it should be noted that we have been tracking the potential snowy Thanksgiving since my autumn outlook back in early September. The fact that it remains in the long-range models is very promising for snow lovers.

I hope everybody is enjoying the weather. As always, stay tuned, and be sure to check out our daily forecasts on Facebook.

“My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.”
