Wind Chills Could Reach Below Zero Tuesday Morning

Posted

thermometerThe National Weather Service is warning of sub-zero wind chills overnight Tuesday.

"As Arctic high pressure continues to build in, air temperatures will likely fall below zero in the higher elevations, into the single digits west of the Blue Ridge and lower teens to the east," NWS said.

Sustained 10-15 mph winds throughout the night, with wind gusts of 21 mph,  could drive wind chill values to -2 degrees.

Temperatures for Tuesday will bottom out around 11 degrees, with highs reaching 27.

A Prince William County Bus driver reported that they have been notified to arrive a half-hour early Tuesday for cold weather protocol.

Dangerously low wind chills Tuesday may cause hypothermia or frost bite on exposed skin.
