The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Weather Advisory until midnight.

"Temperatures will drop below freezing this evening." NWS said. "Icy spots are possible on untreated surfaces."

Areas of freezing drizzle and fog may continue overnight into early Thursday morning.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said they will have crews working throughout the night to treat roads due to any re-freezing and/or freezing rain that may fall.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Prince William County until 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Residents can expect 1-2 inches, with the heaviest accumulations around 3 p.m.

"Temperatures near or below freezing will allow snow to accumulate on roadways and other surfaces," NWS said. "This will result in hazardous driving conditions through the afternoon, including the afternoon rush hour."

Prince William County Schools have cancelled after-school and evening activities.
