Grades 6 - 12.

Kim B Miller will present “Expressions Through Poetry” virtually, explaining the difference between poets and spoken word poets as well as the art of haiku. She’ll also perform several of her own poems and share advice on how to bring your poetry to life. Come ready with your ideas and questions as we learn how to express ourselves through poetry.

Poet Laureate for Prince William County, Virginia

Kim was crowned Poet Laureate of Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park, Virginia on Oct. 24, 2020 by the Prince William County Arts Council. Kim is the First African American Poet Laureate for Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park, VA.

 

2019 Southern Fried Haiku Champion

Southern Fried Poetry Slam is an annual poetry event celebrating and promoting spoken word. It is one of the largest Spoken Word and Performance Poetry tournaments in the world.  It is an exciting event that attracts individual spoken word poets and  poetry teams. Kim competed in the haiku competition. She made it to the finals where she ultimately won.
