UPDATED: Police Investigate Report of Shooting at Woodbridge High School

Lockdown has been lifted at the school

UPDATED: Nov. 9 at 1:15 p.m.: Prince William Police announced that they have found no indication of a shooting occurring at Woodbridge Senior High School today. 
 
Police say they will remain on the scene through dismissal. Secure status has been lifted and area schools will resume their normal operations. 
 
Around 12 p.m., Prince William Police alerted the public that they received a report of a shooting at Woodbridge Sr. High School. They had already arrived at the school to investigate at that time, and the school had been placed on lockdown.
 
Police noted there was NO EVIDENCE of an active shooter, but the school went on lockdown as a precautionary measure. 
 
After methodically searching, police have determined there was no active threat. They also did not discover any evidence that a shooting had occurred in that area.

Prince William Police reported the following on its Facebook page before noon.
 
"INCIDENT: Officers are investigating a REPORT of a shooting at Woodbridge HS. Officers are on scene and have the building secured."**
 
"At this time, there is NO EVIDENCE of a shooting. NO INJURIES have been reported. Area schools are secured as a precaution. THERE IS NO ACTIVE THREAT."
 
"UPDATE: (at 12 noon)  Officers remain on scene at Woodbridge HS and are conducting a methodical search of the building."
 
"NO EVIDENCE of shooting have been located and NO INJURIES have been reported. NO ACTIVE THREAT."
 
Woodbridge Sr. High School is located on Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge, Virginia. 
 
PWCS Communication: 12:30 p.m.
 
Prince William County Schools has sent a communication saying that "all area schools," are under secure the building procedure as precautionary measures. This would include Lake Ridge Middle School and Old Bridge Elementary School. 
 
"Prince William County Police is investigating a report of a shooting at Woodbridge High School. Officers are on scene and have the building secured. At this time, there is no evidence of a shooting and no injuries have been reported. Area schools are secured as a precaution. There is no active threat."
 
PWCS Communication: 12:55 p.m.
 
Prince William County Schools Alert asks that parents and others refrain from calling 9-1-1 or the police to request information on the incident. That line should only be used to report an emergency. 
 
People who do have information on the incident to share with the police should call the police non-emergency line. The non-emergency line for the Central District in Woodbridge is 703-792-8555.

** Correction: Woodbridge Sr. High School and other Lake Ridge area schools were under "secure the building" status, which is different from "lockdown."
