Police Arrest Man for Bristow Brandishing of Firearm

Previously sought for Reckless Handling in Manassas

Prince William officers responded to the area of Sudley Manor Drive and Tartan Hills Parkway in Bristow (20136) to investigate a brandishing, Dec. 23, at 10:04 a.m.

The investigation revealed the victim, a 36-year-old man, was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of the vehicle in front of him.

As the victim pulled his vehicle around to the accused’s vehicle. The accused, later identified as Luis Amilcar Ayala  Rivas, brandished a firearm toward the victim. The victim immediately left the area and contacted the police.

While investigating the incident, officers located the accused nearby and took him into custody without incident. Officers recovered the firearm used during the incident and determined the serial number was tampered with.

At no point during the encounter were any shots fired.

During the investigation, officers also determined that the accused was involved in a previously reported reckless handling incident that occurred in the area of Sudley Road. near Sunnygate Drive in Manassas (20109) on Nov. 27.

Following both investigations, the accused, identified as Luis Amilcar Ayala Rivas, was arrested.

Prince William Police arrested Luis Amilcar Ayala  Rivas, 58, of 8147 Community Drive in Manassas, on Dec. 23. He was charged with 1 count of reckless handling of a firearm, 2 counts of brandishing, and 1 count of altering of a firearm serial number.

His court date is pending. He is being held without bond. 

Reckless Handling of a Firearm [Previously Released] – Nov. 27 at 11:20 a.m., officers responded to Sudley Road near Sunnygate Drive in Manassas (20109) to investigate a 'shots fired' call.

The investigation revealed the victim, a 37-year-old woman, was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of the vehicle in front of her.

The driver stopped on Sudley Road where they then pointed a firearm into the air and fired a round. The victim briefly followed the suspect's vehicle before contacting police.

While investigating the incident, officers located a shell casing in the roadway. No injuries or property damage were reported.
