It pleases me that so many residents are paying close attention to how our county plans future development. Prince William County (PWC) is a growing community in our metropolitan region. How we grow really depends on you - the citizens! Informed citizens typically produce an effective government, which should always be the goal. It certainly is mine.
PWC is in the process of updating its Comprehensive (Comp) Plan. PWC is required to have a Comp Plan, which is essentially a document designed to guide future development. It presents a vision for the future that includes long-range goals and objectives that affect local government and its community. There are various chapters of the Comp Plan, and Virginia State Code requires localities to update their plan. The following is a short explanation of the Comp Plan. This week, there will be two opportunities for residents to participate in the Comp Plan process. The first is a Community Listening Meeting hosted by my Planning Commissioner, Tom Gordy, and Prince William County School Board Members, Adele Jackson and Jennifer Wall (see flyer below). There will not be a presentation at this meeting. It is being held for the community to share thoughts and increase awareness of the PWC 2040 Comp Plan, including impacts to local schools, neighborhoods, and roads.
