The 4th Annual Nokesville Christmas Parade will be held this Saturday, Dec. 12 at 3:30 p.m.; the parade route runs along Fitzwater Drive.

Growing out of the success of the Nokesville Day Parade and the Nokesville Christmas tree lighting, the Nokesville Christmas Parade has become the kick-off to the holiday season in Nokesville and surrounding areas. The parade includes something for everyone: colorful floats, marching bands, dancers, animals, cars and trucks, and guest of honor, Santa Claus, riding on a fire engine.

Further Christmas and seasonal activities will follow the parade, including a live nativity on the lawn of Nokesville Church of the Brethren, live holiday music and free horse-drawn carriage rides.

Chili, hot dogs and other foods will be shared in the church’s fellowship hall for the cost of $5 per person. Money raised will be donated to local food pantries and shelters. People are also encouraged to bring canned food. Santa will also be visiting the fellowship hall.

The parade runs from the old Nokesville Elementary School on Fitzwater Drive to the Nokesville Church of the Brethren on the corner of Nokes Street.

According to organizers, participants should arrive at the old Nokesville Elementary School between 2 and 2:30 p.m.

During the event, parts of Fitzwater Drive will be closed to traffic between Nokesville Elementary and Nokes Street.

The Nokesville Christmas Parade is organized by Friend Uniting Nokesville and the Nokesville Business Association.
