Local day care center Kiddie Academy of Gainesville will hold a summer carnival to help raise money for the American Cancer Society Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Kiddie Academy of Gainesville is inviting the entire community out for a day of summer fun," Director Elijah Boruchowitz said. "Carnival games, rides and concessions will be onsite at their local school."

Boruchowitz said they are accepting donations throughout the event as a way to help raise money and awareness for The American Cancer Society.

"With the local help of the new shopping plaza near the Glenkirk Estates including Papa Johns, Family Mart, Lavie Nails and Spa as well as Alvorada Dentistry these businesses have partnered to raise over $300," he said.

The organization will give all proceeds from the event directly to the Cancer Society.

The event is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged. For more information regarding this event, the organizers said to contact Kiddie Academy at 703-348-7200 or by email at gainesville-va@kiddieacademy.net.
