According to Prince William County Police, an officer helped a truck driver round up his load of baby chickens in Haymarket.
Police report that at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 29, Officer R. McConnaughey responded to U.S. 15 and Logmill Road to assist after a truck lost its cargo.
" caught several hundred baby chicks that covered the roadway," a police spokesman said.
The police said that the truck was not involved in a traffic-related accident.
"It wasn’t a crash, the load just became unsecured," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said.
As expected many on Facebook shared humor and appreciation for the officer's efforts.
"Definitely want to make sure a picture is included in any headline that says 'PWC Police picking up chicks in Haymarket while on duty,'" one woman posted.
