Gainesville Man Arrested for Malicious Wounding of Manassas Woman

A Gainesville man was arrested, Tuesday, for the alleged malicious wounding of a woman in his home, the evening before.

Prince William Officers responded to a residence in the 13800 block of Barrymore Court, Gainesville, Monday at 8:46 p.m., to investigate a domestic assault.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 19-year-old woman of Manassas, and the accused, identified as Ivan Dustin Ortega, 20, of Barrymore Court, were involved in a verbal altercation that had escalated.

“During the encounter, both the accused began physically assaulting each other,” said police spokesperson, Officer Nathan Probus. “At some point, Ortega punched the victim in the face, breaking her nose and knocking her to the ground.”

According to police, the victim then grabbed a pair scissors and stabbed the accused in the arm in an effort to get away from him. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted the police.

Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Ivan Dustin Ortega was arrested Sept. 27 and charged with malicious wounding.

His court date is pending. In the meantime, he is being held without bond.
