Prince William County police report that the treasurer of the Glenkirk Elementary Parent Teacher Organization was arrested for embezzlement May 6.

Sabrina Ann Corra-Reynolds, 35, of Gainesville, was charged with two counts of embezzlement.

“Detectives from the Property Crimes Unit began an embezzlement investigation involving the treasurer of the Glenkirk Elementary PTO after discrepancies were detected by Prince William County Schools,” said police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok.

The accused is alleged to have used Glenkirk Elementary PTO funds to make personal purchases, which included a vehicle rental and a child’s dresser. Purchases totaling around $2,200 were made between Dec. 11 and April 16 of this year.

The Glenkirk PTO is an unincorporated association of parents, legal guardians, and grandparents of children attending the school and the school’s staff. Police said the accused is not an employee of the school.

PTO funds are generated through fundraisers or donations and are not school funds.

A court date for the accused has been set for July 7, 2013. Bond information is unavailable.
