StoneHavenBrentsville Supervisor Jeanine Lawson (R) announced at the Jan. 13 Board of County Supervisor Meeting that the Public Hearing and vote on Stone Haven has been deferred.

"After meeting with Supervisor Lawson, the applicant asked for a deferral of the public hearing to a date uncertain," was posted on Supervisor Jeanine Lawson's Facebook page Tuesday evening.

According to the post, the public hearing, which was scheduled to be held on January 20, will be moved to a later date, which has yet to be determined.

The proposed Stone Haven development that would include 1650 homes within 865.2 acres in north Bristow has been a contentious issue among the community members. Many Brentsville citizens feel the county should be focusing on building schools and infrastructure to meet current needs without bring in more development.

Lawson's opposition to Stone Haven was one of the key issues of her campaign. She told Bristow Beat on the night of her election that the development would need to undergo significant changes for her to consider voting for it.

Nonetheless, there were some appealing aspects to Stone Haven. The developers offered a generous proffer package to the county that included land on which to build the county's 13th high school, sports fields and trails.

This is the second time the Stone Have vote has been deferred. The first time, the Chairman Corey Stewart decided to defer the vote until after the Brentsville District had elected their supervisor.
