Rumors spread early this week throughout Gainesville communities about another attempt to abduct a child.
However, Prince William County police confirmed that no such attempt had actually occurred.
They did not release details of the alleged incident and only offered, "the kid made it up," in response to Bristow Beat's inquiry.
The rumor obviously concerned parents, as last week, a young girl was approached by an unknown individual in a dark blue car with dark-tinted windows at Marsteller Middle School in Bristow.
Some are concerned that the individual is still at large.
"I was looking for information that we, as parents, could be on the look out for, while our own kids are out in our neighborhood," a Gainesville resident said.
