"After speaking with the victim, the location was narrowed down to behind a townhome on nearby Vermont Place," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said.

Original Story:

Prince William County Police are asking residents for help in locating a man who raped a 31-year-old Herndon woman Mar. 28.

According to the victim, she was approached by an unknown male in the area of Maplewood Drive and Peakwood Court in Manassas while she was on her way to the home of an acquaintance.

"The man displayed a handgun and forced the victim into a wooded area nearby where he then raped her," said police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok. "Following the encounter, the man fled the area on foot."

The victim was transported to an area hospital, he said.

Police used a K-9 and helicopter to search the area for the individual, who they described as a black male, 5 feet, 9 inches with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black, puffy winter jacket, dark gray jeans, and a black and white bandana.
