Fair-Goers Enjoy Final Days of 2012 Prince William County Fair

The Prince William County Fair will be packing up soon, meaning that there is little time left before vendors and rides head out of town.

For those of you who still have the time, the fair is worth seeing, but don’t just take my word for it.

“Personally I just love spending time with my friends at the fair. I love seeing the exhibits and, of course the cows,” said a Manassas teen.

“I came here with my family. It was really fun- amusement park quality,” said teen Maggie Good of Ashburn.

Good also liked that unlike at the big amusement parks, her seven year old brother was tall enough to go on all the rides at the Prince William County Fair.

That's because, rather than dead-defying plummets, the fair features traditional amusement park rides suitable for people of all ages.

Eight-year-old Bethany Hayes of Warrenton, said she recommends the “extreme swings,” which she went on for the first

time. Her little brother liked the Ferris wheel best, but was still looking forward to the haunted house.

However, adults enjoyed the rides just as much as the children.

“Everything was great,” said JoAnne Lawton of Alexandria, who rode the Ferris Wheel, swings and haunted house ride last weekend.

Nick Choi of New York City agreed. Having just moved to Prince William, the rides and the cattle show gave Choi a taste of country life, and left him thinking, "Virginia is awesome."

Then there were the surprises one could not plan for.

John and Jeannie Myers of Manassas got a few laughs when a camel John was petting snuck its head under the bar to its

cage; something no one around thought it could do.

Christopher Navari’s mom confused one kid for another, when I asked for a photo of Christopher at the petting zoo.

“He’s not mine,” she said of the goat Christopher was petting, causing her knowing friend to start laughing.

But all in all, people were surprised by how personable the animals were, as the  goats, llamas, donkeys, rams, cows and horses welcomed all the attention they were receiving from individuals at the fair.

And while the pony rides were just for children, the pink and blue horses on the carousel welcomed everyone.

Sunday is the last day of the fair. See you there!
