All five Prince William and Manassas Chick-fil-A’s will hold a spirit night May 21 in honor of Officer Chris Yung, the Prince William County officer who lost his life in the line of duty. Local Chick-fil-A’s will donate 10 percent of their total sales during the hours of 4-9 p.m. Tuesday to the Yung family.

“This has been an extremely tough year in our country with the shootings, bombings and close-to-home fatality in Prince William County with the accident on Dec. 31, when Officer Yung lost his life in the line of duty,” said Janet Loggy, Marketing Director for the Virginia Gateway Chick-fil-A in Gainesville.

Police officers receive a discount at Chick-fil-A, which is why the restaurant employees know many of the Prince William County Police officers. However, among all the officers, Loggy said that Yung particularly enjoyed Chick-fil-A.

“Chris Yung came to our location quite often,” said Loggy, “and I think the Bristow and Manassas locations frequently. Obviously his death was a big loss for the whole community, and we felt like we wanted to do something.”

Loggy was aware that when Hard Times Café in Manassas held a benefit for Officer Yung, lines were out the door. Thinking that an Officer Yung benefit might overwhelm just one restaurant, she spoke with Marketing Director Alysa Smith at the Sudley Manor store. After discussing it with other stores in the region, marketing directors and restaurant owners at all five Prince William and Manassas stores agreed to participate in the benefit at the same time on the same day.

Loggy explained Chick-fil-A often holds spirit nights for schools as well as local charity events. While they usually hand out flyers, Loggy said no flyers are required for the Yong event, and that 10 percent of every purchase will go toward the cause.

Come to Chick-fil-A at one of five locations that will donate money to Officer Yung's family.
