Computer Glitches Hinder PWCS SOL Testing

Posted

Throughout Prince William County, students are experiencing difficulty taking their SOL writing tests due to issues with the school division's network.

“SOL testing has been sporadically affected by network issues unrelated to the SOL testing application,” Phil Kavits, Director of Communications for PWCS said Thursday. “These have caused isolated problems here in the Kelley Building and, when they occur, affect multiple applications.

Kavits said the problems stem from slow network log-ins.

“Work-arounds have been provided to PWCS staff to access testing and other instructional applications,” Kavits said.

Additionally, the network vendor is onsite, and Kavits said the school division will “continue to work with us on these issues until they are completely resolved.”

He said the problem is local, not statewide.
