PWCS Salutes Brentsville Valedictorian, Salutatorian

To earn the honor of valedictorian or salutatorian, a student must be driven to succeed. To honor their four years of achievements, on their website, Prince William County Schools chose to recognize Ben Cumberland and Alan Komisarcik of the Brentsville District High School class of 2012.

According to PWCS, besides a number of extracurricular activities, valedictorian Ben Cumberland has received numerous honors throughout his tenure at Brentsville. These include:

  • Four Academic Letters
  • Summa cum Laude Scholar
  • Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award
  • President's Education Award
  • Early College Scholars Program
  • IGCSE Geometry Student of the Year
  • IGCSE Algebra II/Trigonometry Student of the Year
  • English II Student of the Year

Cumberland will head to Annapolis on June 28 to the United States Naval Academy to become a member of the class of 2016.

PWCS also detailed the achievements of Salutatorian Alan Komisarcik, who will parlay his hard work into an engineering degree, possibly in the field of biomedicine, from the University of Virginia.

Among his achievements at BDHS, he received a National Merit Scholarship Program Letter of Commendation, was named Outstanding 12th grade AP Statistics Student of the Year and Social Studies Student of the Year, was a member of the National Honor Society and was a summa cum laude scholar.

The work ethic and community spirit of both graduates represent the best of Brentsville District High School.
