School BusesWhile icy conditions are expected to improve as the temperature rises throughout the day, Manassas Park City Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools, the only two local school divisions who called for two-hour delays for Tuesday, have ultimately decided to cancel classes. "Manassas Park City Schools are now closed, Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 due to inclement weather," a spokesperson said. Based on current road and sidewalk conditions, FCPS has also changed its operating status today, Feb. 16, 2016. "All Fairfax County public schools will be closed today. School offices and central offices will open four hours late, to be opened by 12 noon with an unscheduled leave policy in effect for 12-month employees," they said. All after-school activities are also canceled; however, the status of evening activities will be reassessed by noon and an update will be posted.
School division SACC centers are closed. Heavy rain is expected until this afternoon, with highs near 49. The National Weather Service warns of new precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch. Check BristowBeat.com for the latest closings and delays.
