Car Overturns in Bristow; No One Seriously Injured

A car overturned on Braided Stream Drive near Rollins Ford Road in Bristow just before 1 p.m. Monday. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

In a single-car accident, the Chevy Cavalier crashed onto the curb, rolled onto its right side and flipped onto its roof.

None-the-less, both the driver and passenger were able to walk away from the crash relatively unharmed. While the passenger, a young woman, remained at the scene, the driver, another young woman, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

According to the passenger, the driver was also able to exit the vehicle on her own and “only had scratches."

The passenger said the accident occurred after the steering wheel locked on the vehicle. Fortunately, the front airbags did deploy, and both women were wearing seat belts.

Two police officers were present at the scene. The police commander said having people walk away from a car that flipped over is not too uncommon, and he sees it just about every day.

“Sometimes they walk away; sometimes they do not,” he said.

When Bristow Beat arrived on the scene the tow truck was lifting the car into its up-right position. The right side of the vehicle was badly scratched and dented. The windshield was complete shattered, although the glass remained in place.

One neighbor was surprised that no one was trapped in the car, or seriously injured.
