Prince William County Police charged Charles Michael Mankin III, 47, of Catharpin with attempted robbery and disorderly conduct April 17, after he refused to cooperate with staff of the Broad Run Golf Club in Bristow.

"The accused became agitated toward staff members after being repeatedly told to follow the club rules," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "At one point, the accused made threats towards staff and was asked to leave the facility."

Perok said a staff member was recording the incident and was approached by the Mankin.

"During the encounter, the accused grabbed the staff member’s arm and attempted to take the phone; after a brief struggle, the parties separated and the accused left," he said.

Police reported no injuries.

Following an investigation, officers obtained warrants and arrested the suspect at his residence without incident.

Mankin's court date is June 1. His bond information is unavailable.
