DAY CARE INSPECTIONS: Local Day Care Centers Achieve Outstanding Inspections, Recognition

Posted

Day Care Inspections typically profiles day care centers that receive significant violations from the Virginia Department of Social Services; however, this week we feature local facilities that have achieved passing inspection reports and other recognitions.

According to public inspection reports, Linton Hall Preschool and Extended Day Program, located at 9535 Linton Hall Road in Bristow has received three successful inspections since April 10, 2013 and only one negative report for record-keeping since Nov. 29, 2011.

A spokesperson from the day care center was very excited to pass their most recent Nov. 7 inspection. She attributes their success to an emphasis on the safety of their students.

“We work very hard to keep the kids safe and treat them like our own,” Little Sprouts Assistant Director Heather Lattig said.

Minnieland Academy At Braemar, located at 12700 Correen Hills Drive in Bristow also recently achieved a passing inspection report.

"The Licensing Inspector was able to observe transitions, to include awakening after nap, washing hands, eating afternoon snack (crackers, pineapple, broccoli, carrots and dip) and outside play. A sample of three staff and four children's files were reviewed today and determined to be in compliance,"  VDSS Inspector Cathy E. Aylor wrote in her report.

Last week, Northern Virginia magazine notified newly-opened Willowcreek Academy in Gainesville as well as their existing center in Centreville that they were recognized in the "Top Daycare/Preschool" category.

"It's our first time being named here in Gainesville, and our second time in Centreville," Willowcreek Academy Gainesville Director Krystin Kiehnau said. "Every director at Willowcreek Academy is charged with ensuring that the high quality of care that our families have come to expect is maintained and preserved."

Kiehnau explained Willowcreek Academy keeps tabs on students and staff through physical observations and cameras.

"I hire top quality experienced staff that are professional and genuinely care for children," she said. "With the mixture of supervision, high expectations, and my amazing staff, we have become and remain authentic high quality childcare."

The school age care programs at Tyler Elementary in Gainesville and Samuel L. Gravely, Jr. Elementary in Haymarket also received passing inspections on both of their last two inspections in 2013.
