Bristow Teen Arrested for Assaulting Relative with Pepper Spray

policedoor700pxPolice have charged a 17-year-old Bristow male with assault with a caustic substance, domestic assault and battery, and possession of marijuana after he reportedly sprayed a family member with pepper spray.

Prince William Police Officers responded to a residence on Drum Salute Place in Bristow to investigate a domestic dispute, just after midnight, Friday morning.

The victim, a 47-year-old Bristow man reported that he and a family member, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, were involved in a verbal argument, which escalated.

"During the encounter, the juvenile retrieved "pepper spray" and sprayed the victim in the face, causing minor injuries," said police spokesperson, Officer Steven R. Mattos, Jr.

According to police, the juvenile then assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground, before fleeing the residence on foot.  Minor injuries were reported.

Officers located the juvenile nearby the home and detained him without further incident.

During the search for the juvenile, officers found marijuana in his backpack.

Following the investigation, the juvenile was arrested. He is being held at the juvenile detention center. His court date is pending.
