Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue responded to 8698 Night Watch Court in Bristow for a multi-story house fire Wednesday afternoon.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene approximately 2:30 p.m., they reported fire from multiple floors of the residence.

"Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke showing from the home," Communications Specialist Kim Y. Hylander said.

According to PWC Scanner Bums, the fire burned through the staircases on all three floors of the structure.

"Although smoke detectors were present and sounded, the home was vacant when the fire occurred; a family member, who had returned home, found the house engulfed in smoke and called 911," Hylander said.

Crews from Nokesville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department and Manassas Volunteer Fire Department battled the blaze inside the house for approximately 30 minutes. Fire on all three floors were extinguished and the scene secured.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

"Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced family; 2 adults, 1 child and a pet," she said.
