First Shift Ends Tragically for Woodbridge Police Officer

Prince William County Police announced that Officer Ashley M. Guindon, 29, of Woodbridge, one of the officers involved in the evening shooting on Lashmere Court in Woodbrdge, has died as a result of her injuries sustained during the incident.

"We ask for everyone’s thoughts and prayers as our department deals with this tragic loss," police spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Perok said. "We also ask for continued patience as we learn more about this incident."

Guindon, who was sworn in Friday, began her first shift Saturday.

"The investigation into the shooting is still underway and the remaining two officers wounded during the encounter are continuing to be treated for their injuries," he said.

According to a press release, Guindon is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and has family in law enforcement.

Officer Guindon was assigned to work patrol in eastern Prince William County.

Three Prince William County police officers were injured in a domestic related shooting incident Saturday evening.

The police have a suspect in custody.
