Prince William County Police responded July 5 to the area of the 7900 block of Meadow Court in Manassas for reports of an assault.
According to the victim, a 23-year-old male of Manassas, around midnight, three individuals approached him while he was in the mentioned area.
"During the encounter, the victim was struck in the head with a glass bottle and a lawn ornament," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "After the altercation, the suspects fled on foot."
The victim was transferred to an area hospital for minor injuries where police were notified.
Police do not believe the incident was random.
