Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced overnight lane closures will be implemented as part of the I-66 Widening Project, during the week of October 26-30, 2015, for demolition of the parapet wall on the east side of the Catharpin Road. (Rt. 676) Bridge, weather permitting.

"Expect closures in both directions on I-66 from just east of Rt. 15 (James Madison Hwy.) to just west of Rt. 29 (Lee Highway)," said Susan Michlik, Traffic Coordinator for VDOT Mega Projects."From 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. the left lane will be closed eastbound, with alternating single-lane closures scheduled for I-66 West between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m."

Michlik provided the additional following information.

There will be periodic 20 minute total temporary closures during the demolition process on I-66 in order to safely remove the parapet wall and to protect the travelling public from falling debris.

Catharpin Road (Rt. 676) North and South at I-66 will be reduced to a single lane with a flagger directing traffic between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Two lanes will be maintained during all other hours on Catharpin Rd. (Rt. 676). This work is being done as part of the I-66 Widening Project between Rt. 15 (James Madison Hwy.) in Haymarket and Rt. 29 (Lee Hwy.) in Gainesville.
