Prince William Police arrested the man accused of sneaking into a Manassas woman's home in the middle of the night and raping her in her own bed.

Detectives from the Special Victims unit identified Jose Ruiz, 35, of Manassas as the suspect involved with the sexual assault that occurred on the 7500 block of Prince Cole Court in Manassas on March 9.

At 4:41 a.m. on that date, Prince William Police Officers responded to a call from a 40-year-old woman, who reported that an unknown man entered her bed while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her. The man appeared to have entered the home through an unsecured door.

Since it was dark at the time, the woman was unable to provide a description of the perpetrator to the police.

“Detectives located surveillance footage, which showed a possible suspect walking in the area at the time of the offense,” said Prince William police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok. “After an extensive investigation and canvassing of the neighborhood, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Jose Ruiz of Manassas.”

Following an investigation, police obtained a warrant against Ruiz in connection to the incident.

“After the search, Ruiz was located and arrested on March 14 in the area of Keara Court in Manassas by a police K-9 and patrol officers with the Prince William County Police Department. U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force also assisted in the investigation,” Perok said.

Jose Roberto Ruiz lives on Yorkshire Lane in Manassas. He is being charge with rape and burglary with intent to defile. His court date has not yet been set. He is being held without bond.
