Police said they found no sign of people wearing masks or carrying guns on the Victory Lakes nature trail in Bristow at 2:47 p.m., Monday.

“Officers checked the area and did not locate the men,” said Prince William County Police spokesperson, Officer Jonathan Perok. “ Caller said the “guns” appeared to be paintball guns. No axe was mentioned that I could see.”

At 2 p.m., Bristow Beat received a message via Twitter, saying, “FYI. I dispatched nonemergency police to check out to men on Victory Lakes trail carrying guns and wearing camo/masks. Heard anything else?”

After a follow up question the person responded, saying, “We couldn't tell if they were paintball guns or what but they also had an axe. PWC Police are checking it out.”
