Police Make Multiple Arrests in Connection with Manassas Homicide

screen-shot-2016-11-10-at-9-53-23-amDetectives from the Prince William County Police Homicide Unit and Special Investigations Bureau made eight arrests, Wednesday, connected to the murder of Edwin Ivan Chicas, which occurred Oct. 29 in Manassas.

Police believe the incident to be related to the MS13 gang.

Accessories after the fact are still at large.

Police spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Perok reported that Detectives from the Prince William County Police Homicide Unit and Special Investigations Bureau, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, the Manassas City Police Department and the City of Manassas Park Police Department, attempted to arrest several suspects involved in the murder of Edwin Ivan Chicas, which occurred in the 7500 block of Quail Run Lane in Manassas, October 29.

The preliminary investigation into the murder revealed that the victim was fatally shot following an altercation on Quail Run Lane.

Two men, identified as Marlon Edenilson Argueta-Flores and Gerson Aldair Sorto-Ramirez, are alleged to have caused the victim’s death.

“The investigation further revealed that several other individuals were also involved in the murder, either as accessories after the fact or as co-conspirators,” Perok said.

Detectives determined this murder was gang related as several of the suspects arrested were identified as members of the criminal gang Mara Salvatrucha, commonly known as MS13.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for eight adults and one juvenile. Seven of those suspects wanted by police were arrested without incident.

Authorities also executed multiple search warrants at five residences in connection with the investigation.

Homicide Investigation 

On October 29 at 9:51 p.m., officers responded to the 7500 block of Quail Run Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a shooting.

Once on scene, officers located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

The victim transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries sustained during the incident.

During the shooting, homes and vehicles in the area were also struck by gunfire. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. No description of the shooter was provided to police.

Residents can expect a heavy police presence in the area as the investigation continues. Detectives from the Homicide Unit are currently following up on leads in the investigation.
