Prince William named Ninth Richest County in Nation

U.S. Census Bureau data places Prince William County alongside Loudoun and Fairfax in the top ten richest counties in America.

Prince William County ranks ninth with a median household income $93,101 in 2011, almost a two percent increase from 2010.

According to The Washington Examiner, six of the 10 wealthiest counties in the country are located in the D.C. region. Neighboring Loudoun County maintains the top spot in the nation with a median household income of $119,525 in 2011. Fairfax ranks  third with $105,409.

The Examiner reports that government-related employment is largely responsible for the higher levels of income in the region.
