UPDATE: Republicans Win Most Prince William Delegate Races

Posted

Update: 10:15 p.m. With 95.24 of the votes recorded, and Republicans with a large lead over their opponents, the Republican candidates for state delegates have taken the 50th, 51st, 13th, 40th and 31st Virginia Districts.

With strong Republican incumbents, who have often times run unopposed, the fact that Democrats were able to chip away at Republican majorities as close as 54:45 is a victory in and of itself, and perhaps demonstrates a change of political affiliations in Prince William County.

However, at the end of the day, Prince William will be sending its Republican incumbents back to Richmond to represent many of their districts.

In Virginia’s 50th District, (Bristow/Manassas), Republican incumbent Del. Jackson Miller won with 54.56 percent of the vote. Democrat Richard Cabellos won 45.44 percent of total votes.

In the 51st District, (Nokesville, Lake Ridge) Republican incumbent Del. Richard Anderson won with similar margins, earning 55.33 percent of the vote.  Democrat Reed Heddleston’s took 44.67 percent of votes.

In the 13th District, (Gainesville, Manassas) incumbent Republican Robert “Bob” Marshall won with 52.62 percent of the vote, whereas Democratic challenger Atif Qarni took 47.36 percent of the vote.

In the 40th District, (Gainesville, Centerville) Republican incumbent Del. Tim Hugo won handedly with 59.22 percent to Democrat Jerry Foltz's 40.62 percent.

In the 31st District, (Dale City, Woodbridge) Republican incumbent Scott Lingamfelter, who previously had a 1/3 lead over his opponent Jeremy McPike won in the end with a narrow margin. Lingamfelter took 51.46 percent of the vote to McPike's 48.54 precent.
