Two Teens Charged with Gainesville Bicycle Thefts

policecrusierclosePrince William Police have charged a 15 and a 17-year-old in connection with three burglaries, which occurred in the Gainesville area between 1:45 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. June 25.

Two of the burglaries occurred at residences in the 14100 block of Murphy Terrace and one in the 9300 block of Worthington Drive.

One of the bicycles was recovered by its owner, who confronted one of the teens.

"In all three cases, bicycles were reported stolen from garages, which were left open and unsecured," police spokesman Jonathan Perok said. "Through the investigation, officers were able to identify two juvenile suspects responsible for the thefts."

The 17-year-old male was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of petit larceny. The 15-year-old male was charged with burglary and petit larceny.

Police said their court dates are pending.
