VDOT Announces More Overnight Route 28/Nokesville Road Closures

detour-signThe Virginia Department of Transportation announced that Route 28/Nokesville Road between Marsteller Drive and Battalion Square will again be closed in both directions each night July 10-13 for the ongoing installation of a storm sewer line.

According to VDOT,  Crews will close the road:

  • 10 p.m. Friday, July 10 to 5 a.m. Saturday, July 11
  • 10 p.m. Sunday, July 12 to 4 a.m. Monday, July 13

VDOT will detour traffic via Fitzwater Drive, Kettle Run Road and Vint Hill Road.

“The storm sewer line installation is part of Prince William County’s $69.9 million Route 28 widening project,” VDOT spokesperson Jenni McCord said. “Phase One, which involves relocating Vint Hill Road to Route 28’s intersection with Infantry Lane and widening Route 28 to six lanes between Linton Hall Road and the relocated Vint Hill Road, is scheduled for completion in July 2016.”

Phase two of construction, which will see Route 28 widened to four lanes between the new Vint Hill Road and Fitzwater Drive, is scheduled to begin in March 2016 and has an estimated completion date of December 2017.
