A spokesperson for the Prince William County Police Department announced that detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau have made multiple arrests in regards to the murder of Kenny Diaz, the 18-year-old football player and senior student at Woodbridge Senior High School.

Diaz was discovered in Marumsco Acre Lake Park at 14398 Melbourne Ave. in Woodbridge Saturday. He was bleeding from stab wounds to his stomach. Diaz was transported to a nearby hospital where he died soon afterward.

The primary suspect and main offender in the murder is Diandra Janae Samuels, a 19-year-old woman from Woodbridge, who resides in an apartment at 14307 Bellona Road. She is currently charged with murder, aggravated malicious wounding, abduction, armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

However, Samuels did not act alone, and five other individuals from Samuel’s neighborhood are being charged with lesser crimes in association with Diaz’s murder.

After an extensive investigation, the Prince William County Crime Unit discovered that Diaz took part in a confrontation to redress a robbery that occurred on Sept. 12.

“During the investigation, detectives discovered that the stabbing was connected to an unreported armed robbery committed against a friend of Diaz’s,” said police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

According to the investigator’s account, Diaz accompanied a group of his friends in confronting Samuels for allegedly robbing his friend of an undisclosed amount of money just over a week earlier, an incident that reportedly took place at the 14300 block of Bellona Road in Woodbridge.

During the confrontation, one member of Diaz’s party, Dominic Smith, assaulted one of Samuel’s friends with a handgun, which belonged to another person in Diaz’s crew.

“This caused the group to disperse and flee on foot,” Perok said. “Diaz was not able to get away and was subsequently assaulted by Samuels before being forced into a vehicle by Samuels and other acquaintances.”

Samuels and others then drove to Marumsco Park where Samuels allegedly stabbed Diaz until he was mortally injured and then left him.

“These encounters were not random and stemmed from drug dealing. As a result of this investigation, this homicide has been classified as a murder,” Perok said.

Investigators believe that the main parties involved have been apprehended at this time, although additional charges and arrests are forthcoming.

In addition to Samuels, the five suspects arrested on Sept. 23 are:

Dominic Glenn Smith, 26, of Earlham Court in Woodbridge: Charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and abduction

Deneen Antoinette Williams, 29, of Bellona Road in Woodbridge: Charged with abduction

Teena Marie Gerbozy, 24, of  Bellona Road in Woodbridge: Charged with abduction
