Staff Discovers Weapon on Unity Reed Student

Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds – On March 15 at 7:51 a.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Unity Reed High School, located at 8820 Rixlew Lane in Manassas (20109), was notified of a student in possession of a knife.

The investigation revealed a 16-year-old male student was acting disorderly while in the hallway of the school when a knife fell off him and onto the ground.

School staff quickly took possession of the knife and contacted the Student Resource Officer. The SRO determined the knife was not part of any threat to other students, faculty or staff.

Following the investigation, officers sought petitions against the accused.  After consultation with Juvenile Court Services, the case resulted in formal action and will be handled through the court process at a later date.

The  16-year-old male juvenile of Manassas was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds on March 20.
