When Osama bin Laden was taken down, it was Navy SEALS elite Team Six that America had to thank for the successful completion of that mission. One of those heroes was Aaron Vaughn.
Northern Virginians will be able to honor Vaughn, who later perished in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. On Sunday, March 11 from 6-9 p.m., PR at Partners in Bristow Center will donate 100 percent of all proceeds from haircuts and treatments to benefit the Children of Aaron Vaughn Memorial Fund.
Vaughn leaves behind his wife, Kimberly, and their two children, two-year old son Reagan and daughter, Chamberlyn, who was just two months old when her father died.
PR at Partners Stylist Jennifer Slingwine arranged the event, which will also feature raffles and prizes. Slingwine danced with Kimberly when the two were growing up in Burke, VA., and the two women have remained friends throughout their lives.
“I had a heart for her,” Slingwine said, “Because, I’m a young mom of two, and I couldn’t imagine living my life without my husband. That’s why I wanted to not forget about them, and raise as much money as we can.”
Kimberly Vaughn now lives in Virginia Beach where she is raising her two daughters.
According to Slingwine, all the proceeds will go towards the children, so Vaughn can set up a college fund, or help the family if finances become tight.
This is not the first community service event for the business. PR at Partners has participated in other community service events, such as the Wounded Warrior Project and charity fashion shows. Slingwine describes PR at Partners, as an awesome salon to work for, because they provide continuing education for their stylists, are upbeat and employ extremely skilled stylists.
Members of the Ruri-Teens Club of Marsteller Middle School will be volunteering their time at the event, and some members will be receiving haircuts. Local business sponsors have provided prizes and donations to the event and the stylists will be volunteering their time.
