Enjoy arts and crafts this weekend, as we head into the holiday season. Buy local and support some good community causes before you hit the big box stores next weekend.

The Sister of the Benedictine Monastery Craft Fair: Friday, Nov. 16 from 2:30-5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m and Sunday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Come shop for handcrafted items made by the Benedictine Sister, Oblates and friends at the St. Benedict Monastery on 9535 Linton Hall Road. Enjoy “monastery munchies,” jams, jellies, relish, bread and cookies. They are also selling advent wreaths and candles! Plus enjoy a complementary wine tasting on Saturday or pancake breakfast with Santa on Sunday!

Come see the family-friendly musical, “Dancing in the Wings” at the Gregory Family Theater at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Nov. 18 at 3 p.m.  Sassy worries that her too-large feet, too-long legs, and even her big mouth will keep her from her dream of becoming a star ballerina. When the director of an important dance festival comes to audition her class, Sassy's first attempts to get his attention are over the top! $15 in advance/$17 at the door Originally Directed & Choreographed by Debbie Allen; Music & Lyrics by Andrew "Tex" Allen, James Ingram & Debbie Allen; Originally Commissioned by the Kennedy Center.

This Friday Bristow Run Elementary PTO is hosting the Longberger Basket Bingo and local vendor fair, featuring 20-30 vendors at Bristow Run Elementary on Worthington Drive. Children are welcome at the vendor fair, while the Basket Bingo is for adults only. The  vendor fair starts at 6:15 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. Bingo begins at 7:15 p.m. Admission to the Basket Bingo is $25, and includes a hearty meal. The City of Manassas Park Department of Parks and Recreation invites you to join us for our Second Annual Fall Arts and Crafts Cornucopia on Saturday, November 17th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. located at 99 Adams Street in Manassas Park. Bring a list of your decorating and gift needs for the holidays! The Arts and Crafts Fair will feature both handmade items and manufactured items from over 60 local vendors such as, invitations for weddings, parties or events, Mary Kay, Scentsy, the Aubergine Chef, food vendors, jewelry and more!  There is no cost to come to the event and parking is free.

Nokesville Elementary PTO cordially invites you to their Holiday Shop Pancake Breakfast on Nov. 17 from 8 a.m to 12 p.m. Come enjoy breakfast as a family and then do some holiday shopping in NES Holiday Shop. Menu include Pancakes, donuts and drinks, and ranges from $1-3, with money going towards the NES PTO.

T. Clay Wood Elementary will hold its 2nd Annual Fall Bazaar & Ice Cream Social this Saturday, November 17  from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be free ice cream with a variety of toppings, craft activities and a bounce obstacle course. The Bazaar includes a variety of neighborhood vendors. This Saturday is National Adoption Day. The Prince William County Department of Social Services will host its 2012 National Adoption Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m., in the Prince William County Circuit Court. The ceremony will honor eight children who are being adopted from foster care in Prince William County. National Adoption Day encourage families throughout the Prince William community to open their hearts and homes to children in foster care who are waiting to be adopted. Currently 128 children in the Prince William area are living in foster homes.

Aquila Theatre’s “Cyrano de Bergerac” This award-winning British-American acting troupe brings one of the most romantic adventures in the literary canon to the stage at Merchant Hall at the Hylton Performing Art Center at 8 p.m. on Nov. 17. Cyrano de Bergerac is a courageous swordsman, a masterful wordsmith and an incredible romantic who seems to have everything — including an enormous nose that hinders him from pursuing the beautiful Roxanne. A classic 19th century French play comes to life in a delightful new production by this extraordinary theater company.
