The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch until 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

"A strong cold front will impact the region today," NWS said. "A plume of  heavy rainfall is moving across the region from west to east  through this evening; rainfall amounts of one to three inches can be expected with locally higher amounts possible."

NWS warns that the heavy rainfall may cause flooding of low-lying areas., especially in urban areas and locations especially prone to freshwater flooding."

The National Weather Service is warning of hazardous weather as a powerful cold front reaching from eastern Ohio to Florida will enter the region Wednesday into early Thursday.

"The potential exists for heavy rainfall and flooding across the outlook area," NWS said. "In addition, a few strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts are possible midday Wednesday into Wednesday evening."

Forecasters expect showers and possibly a thunderstorm Wednesday, which could produce heavy rainfall and areas of fog before noon.

Wind gusts could reach as high as 24 mph, and new rainfall could reach 1 to 2 inches.
