WEATHER BEAT: Rain Likely Tuesday; Easter Looks Dry and Mild

Posted

I think it’s officially safe to say that spring has sprung. With that said, it looks like some wet weather and cooler temperatures are on the way, but at least it’s occurring during the workweek for a change.

I hope you enjoyed the weekend weather; Mother Nature is about to bring us yet another dose of cold air. But before the cold air arrives, we have to endure some rain showers. I’m expecting upwards of 1-2 inches of rain before all is said and done early Wednesday morning. Towards the end of the storm, cold air will invade the region possibly allowing for a brief period of snow before everything moves out just after midnight on Wednesday. Don’t worry; I am not expecting any accumulation out of this.

Early Wednesday morning, I’m expecting temperatures to drop to the upper 20s, which is cold enough to damage any plants you may have put out. In fact, as of Monday night, a freeze watch is in effect for Wednesday morning. Note that this may eventually be upgraded to a freeze warning on Tuesday.

Looking ahead at the rest of the week and of course, Easter Sunday, I’m expecting drier weather, although, no more of those 80s for a while. Temperatures will be much more seasonal in the 60s to around 70 degrees. Next chance of rain is Saturday, but I’m expecting partly cloudy skies on Easter Sunday with highs near 70 degrees.

Make it a great rest of the week, and if I don’t see you before Easter, have a happy and safe Easter holiday.

My favorite thing to do is study the weather. It is truly fascinating. Nothing beats a good thunderstorm. I became very interested in weather when I lived in Okinawa, Japan for four years and was actually inside a super typhoon.”
